Legsby Old School was built in 1849 at the expense of Sir John Nelthorpe.

Though replaced by a new Council school in 1911 the building continued to be used as an overflow classroom until the late 1960s.

Locals are now trying to convert it into a community centre.

St Thomas’s church stands alone on the edge of the village.

The church consists of a short tower - with its tall pinnacles, nave and chancel.  The tower and chancel arches are 13th century, but the church has been much altered in Georgian times.

Inside can be seen an 18th century pulpit with tester, and also a Norman font.

Plaque recording a grant of £15 in 1913 (equivalent in purchasing power to about £1,900 today).

"The Incorporated Church Building Society was set up to help build and enlarge Anglican churches in England and Wales.  Between 1818 and 1982 it gave 14,356 grants to churches, helping to pay for the building and enlargement of many thousands of churches.

It was also at the forefront of the battle for ‘free’ pews and its funding contributed to adding over two million pew spaces, most of which were free seats for all, in contrast to the then customary provision of private pews and the reliance on pew rents"
