Illustrations for SLHA Gallery
Rules and Conditions
1. Illustrations should be of some aspect of Lincolnshire’s history or archaeology, the more unusual and uncommon the better. They should not be published currently on another website or in printed form. In the case of previously published illustrations a period of 25 years must have elapsed since last publication. They may be current photographs of an historic site or object, or old photographs or illustrations.
2. Each illustration should be accompanied by a descriptive caption of 20 to 75 words which, wherever possible, incorporates the location and date and the identities of any people. The name of the artist/photographer should also be given.
3. Illustrations should be forwarded in digital format if possible; otherwise good quality prints, slides and transparencies are acceptable. Either .jpg or .tif formats are preferred for digital copies but other common formats such as .pdf are acceptable.
4. The contributor must ensure that he/she holds copyright for each illustration or has the full written agreement of the copyright holder to publish on the website. In offering them to SLHA for publication in the Gallery the contributor understands that illustrations may be copied by anyone visiting the website. However, the contributor should note that the size and resolution of the image shown on the website will not be satisfactory for most printed publications.
5. All submissions will be edited for suitability and captions will be checked for accuracy. SLHA cannot undertake to publish all material offered for the Gallery. The Gallery Editor’s decision is final.
6. The contributor’s contact details will not be published on the website but, where agreed beforehand, will be available to enquirers. Any requests by viewers of the website for high resolution copies of images for re-publication will be referred back to the contributor.
