White's Directory 1856 lists "Tindall John, vict. Pack Horse" and "Pickworth Joseph, beerhouse"
However there is an entry in Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 "Elkington Rt. Musicians' Arms P.H".
The 25 inch OS map published 1888 shows the Musicians Arms at this location but the building pictured appears to be considerably more recent.

Lying half a mile north of Dorrington village centre, the church of St. James and St. John has a severe ashlar-faced tower.
Most of the church is from the Decorated period whilst the nave clerestory is Perpendicular.
A 13th century sculpture of the Last Judgement can be seen outside, above the east window.
Mark Acton, 2007

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states :-
"The church of SS. James and John, situated on an eminence half a mile from the village, is an ancient building of stone, originally Early English, but now almost wholly in the Decorated-style, consisting of chancel, clerestoried nave, aisles, south porch and a low western tower, with plain parapet, containing 3 bells:
the tower, a good example of Decorated work, once had pinnacles and a spire:
the stained east window, which has reticulated tracery, was presented by Joseph Dent esq. of this parish, and on either side the window is an ogee arched niche:
the chancel also retains an aumbry:
the small west window was inserted by funds from voluntary subscriptions:
the clerestory is Late Perpendicular:
the east wall appears to nave been wholly rebuilt in 1330, jn a very careful manner, and above the window on the outside is a sculptured representation of the "Last Judgement" and over this is a small niche:
the east end of the north aisle retains a small piscina, and at the east end of the south aisle are the remains of another within a pointed niche and another niche with pinnacles and canopy:
there are inscribed stones to Anthony Oldfield gent. ob. 30 Sept. 1668, and Elizabeth his wife, ob. 16 Jan. 1686, and a handsome monument to the same, erected under the will of Lucy Oldfield, their daughter, dated Oct. 1715:
there are other memorials to the Oldfield, Anderson and Thacker families, and a white marble tablet to Mrs. Elizabeth Farmer, d. 1786, a benevolent lady formerly resident at Leasingham:
the church was restored in 1867, at a cost of about £1,500, when the whole fabric was new roofed, a vestry added and the church reseated, under the supervision of Messrs. Kirk and Parry, architects, and affords 200 sittings"

White's Directory of Lincolnshire 1856 states :-
"The Church (St. James) stands on a bold eminence, half a mile from the village, and is an ancient structure, with Saxon-arched windows and a low tower, in which are three bells.
The vicarage, valued in K.B. at £6. 3s. 7d., and now at £120, is in the patronage of Sir G. J. Heathcote, Bart., who was created Lord Aveland in 1855.
The Reverend Zachariah Shrapnel Warren, M.A., of Ancaster, is the incumbent.
At the enclosure, in 1789, the tithes were commuted for allotments of land. The vicarial land is 104A. 1R. 37P.
There was in the village a small chapel of ease, but it was taken down in 1698, and the materials used in repairing the church.
This chapel was appropriated to Shelford Priory, Nottinghamshire, and the church to Haverholme Priory"

Sleaford Rural District Council was well in advance of the times when it erected the water tower at Dorrington in 1910.
Few small communities in rural Lincolnshire had such a good and reliable water supply at the time.
The tower remains in good condition though it is no longer in use.
Ken Redmore, 2004

"A List And Brief Details Of Chapels In The Sleaford Circuit Past And Present" prepared by Colin Shepherdson & Peter Robinson June 1996 states :-
"i) A chapel was erected in 1833.
ii) The Main Street chapel was built in 1881 and closed in 1987. It is now in the process of being convened into a dwelling"
Now a private house.
