Grimoldby is situated 4 miles east of Louth. It had a railway station between 1877 & 1960. The station was a childhood home of the actor Donald Pleasence whose father was the station master.

This gate serves as entrance gate for what is now a private residence but was until 1960 Grimoldby's railway station.
The position of the level crossing was about twenty yards north of this point.

Grimoldby station opened on 17 October 1877 on the Louth & East Coast Railway. The line closed on 5 December 1960 and the main building survives almost unchanged as a private house.
The platform stood to the north of the building (extreme right on the photograph) and the brick edging is visible from the roadside.
The enamel signs which had been a feature of the station building were removed some years ago, but the present owners have replaced like for like in the same location.
The station was the boyhood home of actor Donald Pleasence whose father was stationmaster here

A large, impressive greenstone church, St Edith's is mainly 14th century early Perpendicular work.
The spacious interior has four bay arcades and wide aisles, and is well lit by the Perpendicular clerestory windows.
The fine timber roofs are 16th century.

St Edith's chancel was rebuilt in 1876 in the original (Perpendicular) style and materials (greenstone with limestone dressings).
The chancel is unusually wide and the east window has five lights.

Local signage states "The lych gate was built in about 1929. The money was given by the then Rector, Cannon Holden. He was the first person to pass through it after he died and is buried to the right of the gate. The gates are replacements after a theft about 20 years ago."

White's Directory 1872 notes :-
"The Church (St. Edith) has a tower and three bells, and is a neat Gothic fabric, with many sculptured decorations.
The rectory, valued in K.B. at £9.10s., has 155 acres of land, allotted at the enclosure in 1767, in lieu of tithes, and a rent charge of £32, awarded in 1846, and is in the patronage and incumbency of the Rev. Thomas Wood. The Church land, allotted at the same time, is 4A. 1R. 32P".

Kelly's Directory 1930 has :-
"The church of St. Edith is a building of stone, in the Late Decorated and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave of four bays, with clerestory, aisles, north and south porches and a western tower with pinnacles containing 3 bells:
there are some remains of ancient glass, chiefly flowered quarries and some fine gargoyles, which act as spouts to the aisle roofs:
in the north porch is a stoup:
the carved oak lectern was presented in 1890 by C. M. Nesbitt esq. J.P. of Louth; there are two memorial windows:
the chancel was restored in 1876:
in 1891 the church was reseated and re-floored, and in 1927 it was re-roofed at a cost of £400:
there are 220 sittings:
in the churchyard are the remains of an ancient cross:
at the inclosure in 1707 upwards of four acres were allotted as church land.
In the churchyard is a memorial to the men of the parish who fell in the Great War, 1914-18"
