Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states :-

"The church of All Saints, situated on an eminence, is a building of stone of the Saxon, Early English, Decorated and Perpendicular periods, consisting of chancel, clerestoried nave of two bays, aisles, south porch and an embattled western tower with crocketed pinnacles and containing 6 bells, hung on a new bell frame of oak in 1908, at a cost of £170:

the most interesting feature of this church is its tower, the lower portion of which, as well as the staircase turret, is assumed to be of Saxon origin, and contains a doorway opening to the nave on a level with the roof; the upper stage is Perpendicular, and to the same date belong the east chancel wall and the clerestory ; the aisle arcades and chancel arch are Early English, and near the latter remains the entrance to the rood loft:

in the chancel is a shallow arched recess serving as a sedile, and near it a piscina:

on the north side an Early English arcade of two bays opens into a vestry, formerly used as a parish school, where is preserved a coffin shaped slab of the 14th century with a richly carved foliated cross:

there are two mural tablets to members of the Payne family, former lords of the manor, and memorial windows to Frederick James Sedgwick esq. and the Rev. Christopher Robert Andrews B.A. vicar here 1855-1901, and his wife:

in 1845 the church was reseated with open benches, and the fabric thoroughly restored, at a cost of £560, and during the period 1906-8 the 14th century roof was effectively repaired by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, at a cost of about £350:

there are 300 sittings"

White's Directory of Lincolnshire 1872 states :-

"The Church (All Saints), comprising nave, aisles, chancel and a handsome tower with five bells, is an ancient fabric, mostly in the decorated style; it was restored and newly seated in 1845, at a cost of about £560, defrayed by subscriptions.

It contains 300 sittings, several monuments of the Payne family, formerly lords of the manor, a new organ, purchased by subscription in 1870, and a stained glass window in the east end, inserted by the Musson family"

A painting of Saint Anthony of Padua holding the infant Christ. The white lily represents purity. Local signage states :-

"No one knows as to how the picture came to be in Hough church but it is believed to have come at the end of the Second World War about 1945/50. There is a sale ticket on the back"

The substantial motte is largely intact except for the western edge where the former playground has cut into the side.

"The project was undertaken by Streather and Winn, stone masons of St Catherine's Road, Grantham at a cost of £138 17s. Public subscriptions had amounted to the total sum of £141 7s. 6d.

On Sunday afternoon 31 October 1920 the memorial was unveiled by the Revd Frederick Markland Percy Sheriffs, rector of St Vincent church, Caythorpe.

Following the Second World War, reconfiguration of the memorial was carried out with the names of those who lost their lives in that war added onto a plaque below"
