Saint James Village Hall is on the site of the original iron clad Saint James Church.

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states

"St. James's Church, in the centre of the village, is an iron structure, erected in 1890 by Mrs. Grote Joyce, and licensed for all services"

The nave arcades of St Swithin's, with their high round arches, are early 13th century, as are the lower stages of the tower.

North and south aisles, with Decorated tracery in the windows, are 14th century.

The upper stage of the tower, the clerestory and the five-light east window all date from the 15th century.

"The church of St. Swithins is a fine edifice of stone, in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave of three bays, south porch and an embattled western tower with pinnacles and containing a clock and 4 bells:

since July 1891, the chancel has been thoroughly repaired by the trustees of the Earl of Dysart, at a cost of £550,

and in June, 1903, the church was reopened by the Rt. Rev. E. King D.D. Bishop of Lincoln 1885-1910, after restoration at a cost of £1,600"

"Wesleyan Chapel A.D.1864"

In his "List And Brief Details" 1988 Colin Shepherdson states 

"A Dissenter's Certificate was issued in 1786 and a chapel built in 1822/23.

The Main Road chapel was built in 1866 and the old chapel retained as a Sunday school.

The chapel is still in use" 

A Primitive Methodist Chapel, erected in 1838 and rebuilt in 1891, was situated just a little further along Main Road to the south.
