At the age of 94, Ronald H Clark, former President of the Newcomen Society, is here signing copies of his book Steam-Engine Builders of Lincolnshire, reprinted by SLHA in 1998. The first edition was published in 1955.

The launch of the book took place at The Museum of Lincolnshoire Life on 24 October 1998. Some of the Museum's engines were steamed up to celebrate the occasion.

For several years SLHA sold refreshments in the upstairs meeting room over the Christmas Market weekend (this was 1998).

This was a popular spot for many visitors - a good cup of tea at a modest price, a relatively peaceful spot, and a chance to browse excellent new and second-hand books.

The sale of second-hand books at Jews' Court had a modest beginning. An initial donation of books was displayed at the back of the meeting room - seen here in 1999 with Don Dowson, who was the first volunteer in charge of them.

The bookshop moved downstairs to the present room in 2000.

The bookshop at Jews' Court has become a significant source of income to SLHA. It operates as a business under the trading name of Lincolnshire Heritage Limited.

The first treasurer was Peter Young, seen here keeping the accounts in order in 1999.
