After over 28 years of service as office clerk for SLHA, Mrs Sue Smith retired in January 2020. Members and friends got together on 17 January at Jews' Court to mark the occasion.

'Invaders and Traders' was the theme of a practical session for children and parents held in the Town Hall at Kirton in Lindsey on 18 February. It was organised and led by Kathy Holland.

Dr Dennis Mills, scholar and author, died at his home in Branston on 23 March 2020. He made a huge contribution to SLHA through his writing and by his generous support and advice to fellow historians.

The sudden death through coronavirus of Nigel Burn on 25 March was a profound shock to SLHA. Nigel was Chairman of the Society and had played a pivotal role in its affairs over the past three eventful years.

The Society was very grateful to Ian George for taking on the role of Chairman after the sudden death of Nigel Burn. Ian, Chairman of the Archaeology Team, is a professional archaeologist currently employed by Lincolnshire County Council.

In an online ceremony held on 13 June Dr Brian Hodgkinson was honoured to receive the David Hey Memorial Article for 2020 awarded by the Briitsh Association for Local History. Brian's article on Bridge End Priory was published in the SLHA journal, Lincolnshire History and Archaeology, Volume 50.

7. Maureen Birch (1937-2020)
Maureen Birch, who died on 27 November 2020, was an active and productive industrial archaeologist alongside her husband, Neville, expecially in the 1960s and 70s. She also made a valued contribution to SLHA and the running of Jews' Court as SLHA Secretary in the 1990s.

The first online lecture using Zoom was given by Dr Pete Townend on 16 December 2020. The theme of his talk, seen and heard by a remote audience of more than 60, was St Gilbert of Sempringham and the Gilbertine monasteries.
