"The school was built as a National School in 1858, replacing a school held in the vestry of the parish church, and was enlarged in 1893.
Senior children were transferred to other schools from January 1923.
The school was closed on 21 July 1983, with the children transferred to Brant Broughton CE Junior School, Brant Broughton Methodist School, Bassingham County Primary School, and secondary schools"

St Mary's church in Carlton-le-Moorland is largely a late sixteenth-century building and thus a rarity. The chancel, though, is from the Decorated period.
Mark Acton, 2016

In this view from the south-west it is clear that the church has many of typical Perpendicular architectural features - buttresses, battlements, pinnacles - but in stark contract it also has domestic-looking mullioned windows of the sixteenth century.
October 2016

Another view of St Mary's from the south-east emphasising the contrast in architectural style between the chancel and nave.
The church was restored by C H Fowler in 1890-91.

The font dates from around 1200, much the earliest survival of the medieval church on this site.
It is circular on a square base with shafts at each corner. The faces of the bowl are lightly carved with a decorative frieze.
The base has been recently restored.
