This small mill probably dates from the late eighteenth century, with adjoining cottages built in c.1860.

It originally had three floors and four sails.

Croyland Abbey in Crowland is depicted here in Dugdale's Monasticon Angelicum, first published in 1655.

Just a few years earlier, during the Civil War in 1643, it had been fortified by the Royalists and later besieged and taken by Cromwell.

The Benedictine monastery was largely destroyed following the Dissolution.  Still standing are the impressive remains of the nave west front with the present church, Croyland Abbey, being the north aisle.

The church has a huge west window, and a graceful interior with a vaulted roof.

Somewhat confusingly, Croyland Abbey is in the market town of Crowland.

The Benedictine Abbey was founded by King Ethelbald in 713 in memory of St Guthlac. It was dissolved in 1539.

The north aisle now serves as the parish church.

These bells were the first in the country to be broadcast live by the BBC, in 1925.

It dates from the mid-thirteenth century.

National School on St James's Drove erected 1857 for £1800 for 200. It is built in red brick with Bath Stone dressings.

Crowland's war memorial, designed by Walter Hack of Peterborough, is made of Weldon stone.

It was unveiled by the Marquess of Exeter at a ceremony on 28 November 1920.
