This seems to be a modern building, presumably a rebuild, as the name appears in Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1885.

Ferry was across the River Trent to West Stockwith and is shown on older Ordnance Survey maps together with a landing stage and a public house at the Lincolnshire end.

The ferry between East and West Sockwith was winch operated with chains linking the two sides.

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1885 states

"There is a ferry over the Trent for passengers and vehicles to West Stockwith, in Nottinghamshire, where is the basin of the Chesterfield canal"

In "Brief Details of Chapels in the Gainsborough Circuit" Revised August 1998 Sheperson & English state :- 

i) The first chapel was opened on the 25.12.1819

ii) A second chapel was opened on the 10.10.1840

iii) The third chapel was opened on the 11.9.1870 in Back Street and the last service was held on the 4.7.1948 when the Society joined the ex WM's. The chapel is now standing derelict in Back Street.

Although within a couple of yards of the road, there appears to have been a porch or similar structure at the front of the building.

"The school was built in 1896 as East Stockwith Board School, by the East Stockwith and Walkerith United District School Board, formed in that year.

It became East Stockwith Council School in 1903, and, East Stockwith County Primary School in c.1947.

Between 19 May and 6 October 1947, the school was based in the buildings of the former East Ferry School while essential work was carried out (presumably linked to the water damage to pre-1947 documents.)

Senior children were transferred to Gainsborough Ropery Road School from 10 September 1947.

The school was closed on 17 July 1970, with the children transferred to Gainsborough North County Primary School"

St Peter's stands close to the River Trent, and was built in 1846 by T Johnson in Early English style.

It has double-skin walls constructed of stone on the outside and brick inside.

An unusual feature of St Peter's is the south-east tower with its octagonal belfry and spire. This was badly damaged by an earthquake on 27 February 2008.  (The earthquake's epicentre was near Market Rasen and had a strength of 5.2 on the Richter Scale.)

The spire and belfry have subsequently been repaired.

Rips in chancel carpet caused by falling masonry. 

An earthquake on 27 February 2008 followed by high winds on 29th February 2008 caused the tower to collapse.

After repair a re dedication service was held on 31 January 2010. Jane Sinclair, Archdeacon of Stow took the service and the sermon was given by Rev. David Leening.
