Mounted in the roadside wall between the village hall and Roughton Hall is this King Edward VII post box.
Jean Howard, February 2021

This magnificent mid-eighteenth-century house is Grade II* listed.
This view shows the five-bay frontage with handsome central panelled door with fanlight over; Venetian window above; and Diocletian window on the top floor.
From the facade the house looks down towards the valley of the River Bain.
It has been the family home of local MP, Sir Peter Tapsell and his wife.
Jean Howard, February 2021

Built within the fabric of the roadside boundary wall of Roughton Hall are these two metal containers.
They are cast with "PT" (Peter Tapsell?) and GT (Gabrielle Tapsell?) at the top edge and the left hand one also has the words "ROUGHTON HALL" along the bottom edge.
They now seem to be sealed but would appear to have been for the delivery of letters and parcels.
Jean Howard, February 2021

St Margaret's, Roughton, has a Perpendicular brick tower on a greenstone base, nave with Transitional doorways and a chancel from the late thirteenth-century.
The interior contains some old woodwork and a wonderful monument to Norreys Fynes (died 1735), a non-juror and estate steward. A welcoming church.
Mark Acton, 2013

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states :-
"The church of St. Margaret is an ancient building of local stone and brick, in the Early English style, and consists of chancel, nave and a low western tower, with a wooden bell-cote containing 2 bells :
the interior has been restored and reseated with open benches, and has about 100 sittings.
The register dates from 1564.
The living is a discharged rectory, united in 1741 to that of Haltham-on-Bain, joint net yearly value £300, including 383 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of and held since 1913 by the Rev. Henry Cecil Marriott Spurrier M.A. of Pembroke College, Oxford"

The consolidated benefices are now valued at £401.
The Hon. Sir Henry Dymoke is patron, and the Rev. John Dymoke, incumbent"

A drawing of the church displayed in the chancel.
The porch shown in the drawing no longer exists however there is a central blocked doorway on the south side of the nave which was presumably the entrance.
